Accessibility Overview
We’re committed to making Big Sur Lodge as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Below is an overview of the current accessibility features across our property.
Terrain and Pathways
- Sidewalks and Pathways: Pathways around the lodge are concrete and mostly level. Accessible cabins have ramps from designated parking spots to room entrances. There is no paved path between lodge and cabins; natural terrain can be uneven.
- Public Areas: All indoor public spaces are accessible.
- Doors: Exterior building doors are not automated.
- Parking:
- Two accessible spaces in the main lot
- Two accessible spaces near the conference center (10–15 yards from entrance)
- Dedicated parking (~15 ft from entrance) for each accessible room
Flooring
- Common areas feature hardwood and slate flooring.
- Conference room has low-profile carpet suitable for wheelchairs.
Accessible Lodging
- Room Locations: All accessible guest rooms are on the ground floor.
- Example Room: ADA Queen Suite with kitchen has a 3 ft-wide doorway.
- Interior Layout: Light switches and outlets are not at recommended waist height.

- Roll-in shower with mounted bench and moveable chair
- Toilet height: 17 inches
- Sink height: 33 inches
- Shower controls reachable from seat
- No toiletries shelf
- Handheld shower head not reachable from seat
- Rooms 47 and 58:
- Roll-in showers with mounted benches
- Room 58 shower is 4 ft wide
- Toiletries shelves and controls within reach
- Toilet height: 17 inches
- Sink height: 35 inches
- Handheld shower heads not reachable from seat
- Additional Features: Rooms 47 and 58 have visual and hearing impairment alert systems.
Restaurant Accessibility
- Wheelchair Access:
- Accessible ramp at lodge entrance
- Ramp from dining room to outdoor patio
- Front entrance and dining room doors are not automated
- Dietary Accommodations:
- Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available
- Staff assist with food allergies and dietary needs
